Overview of Our In-Person Services
The owner of Psychological and Life Skills Associates, Dr. Christopher Haley, has worked with 1,000’s of clients over the last 20+ years. Using his one-of-a-kind treatment approach, he has helped foster essential social skills to clients in both individual and group therapy modalities.
Regardless of whether you are interested in individual or group services (or a combination of the 2), we always start with an initial consultation with one of our licensed professionals. This provides us with an opportunity to get to know you or your child better, discuss different treatment options, and answer all of your questions. If individual sessions are the best option, we will then schedule a follow-up appointment and begin working on the established goals that were set. If group sessions are deemed to be the best plan, we will then schedule 1 or 2 individual appointments to “prep” the incoming member for the group experience.
For those participating in a group, we will also use the 1 or 2 individual appointments to determine which of our many groups will be the best “match” for your or your child’s needs. We have found that finding a great group “match” is an essential component of the treatment process. Most other group programs only match members by age – which is a total disservice to the client. As we know, clients function at many different levels, and having a high functioning member in a group with lower functioning individuals will lead to a disconnect and be unhealthy for all who participate. At Psychological and Life Skills Associates, we facilitate over 20 groups each week. This allows us the opportunity to match you or child by both AGE and LEVEL OF FUNCTIONING. Therefore, members are much better able to relate and connect with each other – a necessary factor to instill these essential skills. Following the 1 or 2 individual sessions, we will welcome the new member into the group. All of our groups are held on a weekly basis and all groups for school-aged children and adolescents are facilitated during after-school hours.

We do accept some insurance plans. If we are not in network with your insurance, please check to see if you have out-of-network benefits. If so, you will likely be able to get reimbursed for a portion of the session costs. Our admin team can assist with this – they can be reached at (703) 490-0336 x 0.
