Our face-to-face social skills services provide a wealth of benefits to the clients we see, including:
Better Relationship Formation and Management
Lack of social skills may prevent you from forming and maintaining relationships. This is essential not only in making friends but also in creating networks for your career. At Psychological and Life Skills Associates of Woodbridge, social skills in-person training sessions will help improve your communication and empathy skills so that you’ll have an easier time approaching people and forging meaningful relationships with them.
Confidence is an essential trait that motivates you to do better at the things you want to do, be it work, studies, or even just your hobbies. It’s also important in relationships, be it platonic or romantic, as you need the confidence to express what you truly feel. We’ll teach you techniques that help you boost and maintain your confidence, so you can always put your best foot forward.
Enhanced Problem Solving Skills
Conflicts are bound to happen in your life, no matter how young you are. It’s important to have the proper communication skills to understand other people’s perspectives and cooperate with them to solve a problem. Our Woodbridge social skills in-person training sessions teach methods that help adults and children provide healthy responses to every challenge you may come across in life.
A Safer Space
Mental health conditions like social anxiety may prevent you from interacting with others because you’re afraid of being judged or rejected. At the Psychological and Life Skills Associates of Woodbridge, social skills in-person training for adults and children group sessions provide a safe space for you to speak your mind and connect with others. Our members and trainers understand and accept your situation unconditionally.
Overview of Our In-Person Services
The owner of Psychological and Life Skills Associates, Dr. Christopher Haley, has worked with 1,000’s of clients over the last 20+ years. Using his one-of-a-kind treatment approach, he has helped foster essential social skills to clients in both individual and group therapy modalities.
Regardless of whether you are interested in individual or group services (or a combination of the 2), we always start with an initial consultation with one of our licensed professionals. This provides us with an opportunity to get to know you or your child better, discuss different treatment options, and answer all of your questions. If individual sessions are the best option, we will then schedule a follow-up appointment and begin working on the established goals that were set. If group sessions are deemed to be the best plan, we will then schedule 1 or 2 individual appointments to “prep” the incoming member for the group experience.
For those participating in a group, we will also use the 1 or 2 individual appointments to determine which of our many groups will be the best “match” for your or your child’s needs. We have found that finding a great group “match” is an essential component of the treatment process. Most other group programs only match members by age – which is a total disservice to the client. As we know, clients function at many different levels, and having a high functioning member in a group with lower functioning individuals will lead to a disconnect and be unhealthy for all who participate. At Psychological and Life Skills Associates, we facilitate over 20 groups each week. This allows us the opportunity to match you or child by both AGE and LEVEL OF FUNCTIONING. Therefore, members are much better able to relate and connect with each other – a necessary factor to instill these essential skills. Following the 1 or 2 individual sessions, we will welcome the new member into the group. All of our groups are held on a weekly basis and all groups for school-aged children and adolescents are facilitated during after-school hours.

If so, you will likely be able to get reimbursed for a portion of the session costs. Our admin team can assist with this – they can be reached at (703) 490-0336 x 0.
